Verizon is Set to Close a Deal That Will Allow NFL Broadcasts to Larger Screens

in #sports6 years ago

According to Bloomberg, Verizon is close to a deal that will give the communications company to digital streaming rights to internet-connected TVs, tablets, and phones.

Their previous contract limited their streams to only 7-inch screens or smaller. Services such as DirecTV Now and Sling TV could possibly offer mobile streams through their apps as Verizon will no longer have the exclusive rights for that.

The financial details of the contract are currently unknown and an announcement is expected soon. The Verizon rights should include the NFL’s Thursday night games according to one source.

After ratings have been on the decline from traditional television viewers, the NFL is finding success through streaming and is why Verizon pushed for a bigger deal. We truly are in a digital age.
