Former Denver Broncos running back Clinton Portis in 2013 contemplated murdering the people he felt were responsible for mismanaging a large portion of his $43.1 million career earnings, according to a report in Sports Illustrated.

“It wasn’t no beat up. It was kill,” Portis told Sports Illustrated.

According to the report, Portis spent several late nights and early mornings camped out in his car with a gun, waiting for the men he felt cost him his fortune and were ignoring his calls.

A family friend was instrumental in talking Portia down, constantly reminding him of his kids and his family.

I don't remember this but it's horrible. Hate seeing great players now broke especially when they are tricked and robbed out of their money...

Man I'm dying for the season to start

I am looking forward for the season to start too! I expect the Lions to be real good. Should have made the playoffs last year but that 3 game skid at seasons end and the Packers 6 game run was too much. I was just reading that despite Derek Carr's record contract it will be broken by Mathew Stafford!!! He could be a $27 million a year man!

I see your scouting report goes deep. Stafford is worth it, he's going to have his best year this year. We will see how Carr does returning from that injury and I'm sure having M.Lynch helps. We are in for a great season this year!

This is crazy @broncnutz - it's too bad Portis surrounded himself with thieves and con men.

I saw that report, and wow. He got screwed. Forging signatures to drain bank account to ME is CRIMINAL! All that happened to the 2 guys that swindled him and other players was a fine and loss of ability to work in the financial market. Portis lives in a modest 2 bedroom apartment in Virginia. He is good friends with Dan Snyder. He should try and get a job with the organization.

Also saw that he is eligible for $1.5 million from the concussion lawsuit but refuses to get the testing done to see if he has early signs of dementia because he doesn't want to know the answer. Pretty brave of him to turn down all that money being as broke as he is.

Yeah...he was also really evasive about some of the things he has done in the past. So who knows the reasoning. He has kids so I am surprised he wouldn't do it for at least them.
