The 2018 Edition of the Commonwealth Games
The Commonwealth games is a conglomeration of athletes from 53 sovereign Countries. The first Commonwealth Games took place in Hamilton, Canada in 1930, but the 2018 edition was held in the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, between 4th and 15th April 2018 and witnessed over 4000 athletes who took part in different sports including athletics,badminton,basketball,bowls,boxing, cycling, diving, volleyball, rugby, netball, gymnastics, etc. The host country Australia lead the medal table winning golds (80) followed by England (45) gold and India (26) gold in the 3rd position, and Wales (10) gold in fourth. This is the fourth Commonwealth Games that Australia has topped the medal table. Athletes use the Commonwealth games as a platform for preparation for major sports events like the Olympic games. The next edition of the Commonwealth Games will hold in Birmingham, England from 27th July to 7th August 2022.
