World Cup Players of the round: Group H & A - Match Day 1/2

So the world cup has kicked off and many steemians are getting in on the action with prediction score games, reviews of the games, opinions of who they think will win it and who they are supporting for the tournament and it's really livened up my feed which has been pretty slow as of late.
I've been going through tons of World cup content on the site and I didn't see much love for stand out players for each game and I thought it would be a cool series of posts to run with for the next month.

Columbia vs Japan
The industrious Takashi Inui worked the wing tirelessly and was a constant threat for Japan and while his finishing and decision making in the final thought needs some sharpening his overall play was outstanding in stretching the Colombian defence and keeping them pinned back on the back foot. Japan dominated possession and particularly so in the second half where their playmakers Takashi Inui, as well as Kagawa, could pick up the ball in advanced positions
Honourable mention
A surprising start for me seeing Yuya Osako picked ahead of Shinji Okazaki but the newly signed Werder Bremen striker warranted his spot and made the decisive contribution for Japan by scoring the winner with a rising header from a Honda assist.
Poland vs Senegal
Idrissa Gueye was a solid presence in the midfield throughout the game, breaking up play and generally making a nuisance of himself in the middle of the park. His most important contribution though was a shot from outside the box that was deflected in to give Senegal the 1-0 lead over Poland in the last game of matchday 1 with every team in the global showcase now having played once each.

Russia vs Egypt
Playing off the left he looked dangerous on the ball, using his pace and direct running to cause panic in the Egypt defence. Denis Cheryshev scored once from his four attempts and also had a pass completion rate of 76.9% and also made two tackles and two interceptions. Cheryshev scored his third goal of the tournament to become the joint top scorer - with Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo and has had a stunning tournament thus far

So there you have it, the stand out players from the last 3 games. I think all 3 players I picked for this round were surprising picks as this world cup continues to set the stage for lesser known players to impress on the world stage.
