Discerning the Spiritual
We can understand things using our body, emotions, heart, intellect or spirit. OR we can see what God/Jesus Christ/Holy Spirit's understanding is. Guess which of these options is omnisentient. A creation's understanding of anything will never reach our Creator's understanding of it.
Unfortunately, if we use our spirit to discern the Spirit's understanding, most people in this world will regard us as foolish.
Those who can discern the difference between the Spirit and fallen spirits may be considered even more foolish.
For example, if people think ETs, aliens etc are a fringe subject, then the concept of ETs/aliens/ascended beings being fallen spiritual entities (or demons) is ultra fringe.
Anyone who says believing in a vague higher power is unwise and that Truth can only come from God/Jesus Christ/Holy Spirit would be considered worse than foolish -- brainwashed perhaps.
Some people taking Jehovah of the Old Testament to be a different God to the one Jesus spoke about. After all, isn't the God of the Old Testament much different to the one presented by Jesus in the New Testament? From an intellectual or heart-centred frame of understanding, it does appear that they are different. The Holy Spirit says differently.
One intellectual reason for why the God of the OT and NT are the same is that Jesus called the Temple in Jerusalem "His Father's house". He cared what happened in His Father's house and even angrily whipped away the traders wheelin' and dealin' inside. However, if someone was "stuck in their body/soul" and closed off to what the Spirit says, one could intellectually discuss and debate things until the cows come home without true spiritual understanding of the matter. Our intellect and heart will ALWAYS fail us eventually when it comes to spiritual matters. We need the Holy Spirit to teach us Truth directly IN our spirit.
When we do not have God's understanding on something, we can pray to our Heavenly Father to guide us to His Truth directly. The second best case is looking at what Spirit-filled people are saying. However, the problem with that is that those without Spirit-ual understanding can never discern who is Holy Spirit-filled and who isn't.
