My Spirit is Shaking!

A lot of people new to higher consciousness, manifestation, and theta meditation practices are often startled by the unexpected phenomenon of trembling, shaking, shrugging, lurching, and jerking motions that seem to take over for some.

As it turns out, these are perfectly natural signs of energetic progress, enlightenment, and raised awareness, and in many cases represent a clearing out of blockage or resistance attached to beliefs and memories no longer serving you. The experience is often referred to as:

1. Kundalini Awakening

2. Ecims

3. Kriya

Basically, it's nothing to be afraid of and can be an excellent free-form way of experiencing that shift, if you happen to experience it. If not, then no worries. You may be someone who experiences energetic shifts more gradually and subtly. Or, there are other ways that your energy moves about you and through you. Or both!

When in Doubt, Talk to a Doctor

Chances are, the wild-eyed lurches and jerks across the bedroom floor are just energy moving through you and are a sign of movement. But if you are worried or want to rule out anything neurological or physiological, feel free to run it by a doctor to make sure.

Otherwise, the best thing to do when this occurs is to just let it flow. If you can, find a safe, comfortable, quiet place to just sit and allow your energy to flow however it wants to. You will notice that you actually have very little say in the matter. The less you overthink it, the more free-flowing, rewarding, and purging the experience can be.

After a few times, you'll probably slow down and shift into a higher state without having to go through the kundalini every time. But everyone is different. So if it's still happening for you, then just let it happen and enjoy the process!

Can it hurt you?

I have not been able to find any information suggesting that kundalini energy results in any kind of harm to the body, whether long term or short term. Although you might experience a temporary increase in flexibility and surprising strength during the experience, these do not have the same effect on your physical body as would regular exercise and deliberate movement.
