HOUSEKEEPERS FOR THE LORD

Noah built an ark as a vehicle of deliverance. The ark succeeded in this aim by carrying a whole world seeking survival inside of its belly. And Noah and his family were responsible for ministering to this world inside.

Now let us try and reconstruct what happened inside the ark for the whole length of time that the family of Noah was shut up in there. We are told,

“The waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days”(Gen 7:24).

And that is the same length of time eight people had to run the operations and administer the ark. Once the Lord sealed the door of the ark, the people and animal inside entered into an isolated state, completely cut off. Note that the ark was separated, not removed from the world, and there would be no direct exchange or interaction for the period the flood lasted.

This throws up a number of possibilities. First of all, there would have been the need to ensure that Noah had sufficient provisions for nourishment for man and animals. Housekeeping issues such as sanitation would have cropped up alongside issues of maintenance. Waste disposal would have been a special challenge so that toxicity levels do not swell and become a threat to living inside the ark. But whatever the challenge were, Noah had to assure the entire living cargo of the ark was kept in impeccable flourish until swollen waters receded.

Daily, everyone must have gathered at the family alter led by the head of the household, but the broad task of staying alive and well would have been a collective responsibility.The housekeeping success recorded would have been called upon to contribute meaningfully toward the survival objective. No less is required of every one of us today!

He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. Luke 19:12,13

In this task of “Occupy till I come,” there are definitely several creative processes involved. There are potentials needful to be harnessed since no one occupies with any measure of success passively. Or aggressive contending forces would overwhelm that occupier. Without being actively engaged, you cannot maintain territorial integrity and achieve positive expansion. If you dared, you would find yourself dislocated, dispossessed and defeated. If you occupy and do not become fruitful, you would render a ‘zero production’ report when the Master returns and demands a production account!

Do you feel a part of the ten servants charged with the mandate to occupy? Yes, those ten servants are also expecting the return of the Master. The Master did not leave the servants without resources for the mandate of occupation! Refuse to become fruitless.

Make a quality decision and take productive steps, no matter how tentative. God has made abundant provisions for this victorious living. The Lord God of heaven is infinitely far-sighted! He knew you would require gifts, flairs, special aptitudes and stupendous creative potential for the mandate of occupation.

These gifts given to men according to the measure of faith in Christ were never intended to be hung on Ego walls as medals of honor. Neither were they given as qualification for the possessor to now mount the nearest rostrum to pontificate. These gifts and flairs are given in order for us, the recipients, to execute the mandate of occupation effectively.

My talents and creative potential are certainly more than the colourful Christmas decors, just good enough to set flavor of festive moods, but little else.The Lord God expects His Elect to reign here on the earth!

Even in the physical realm, creative people attract recognition and limelight. They tower inimitably above other men irrespective of their size and stature! Their successes stand them out of the crowd!
