Integrity and Doing Good in a "Post Truth" Society

At The White Light Express, our "Mission Statement" for life revolves around the Power of Positive Focused Intention.

Sometimes it can be difficult to keep our chins up in the face of a world that sometimes seems more concerned with manipulations and selfishness than "doing good."

Occasionally, we've even had people tell us that being honest, considerate and having empathy for others puts them at a disadvantage.

Certainly, these are challenges in our modern world!

Even when you may feel adrift, you are not alone!

Sometimes we must pause and consider from whom — and from where — the voices suggesting we are at a disadvantage are coming. Have we gotten caught up in the hype of "success at any cost," where "success" amounts to little more than the mindless accumulation of material assets, with no thought to the impact such an obsession has on our surroundings?

At it doesn't even mean that we are doing the accumulating, merely that we have started observing — and comparing ourselves to — those engaged thusly.

One of the buzz-phrases bouncing around a lot these days is that we live in a Post Truth Society. Whereas there are lots of interpretations of what that means, the connotations are broadly negative.

More and more people are "normalizing" manipulation, deception, cheating and outright lying as simply being parts of modern life.

It doesn't have to be so!

Consider, for example, how you feel when you come across one of those now rare people who simply always seem to take right action and stand by their personal sense of integrity. We typically admire them, and see them as beacons of light in the otherwise murky soup that has become the world.

Now consider that they were most likely not just born that way, they are choosing to live their lives that way.

But here's the key element: We tend to admire them and seek out their company, even if they don't have fancy cars and mansion-like homes and Rolex watches... because what they offer — and what we feel when we're in their company — is not a material thing.

Today, I invite you to silence those voices of negativity and instead make the choice to be one of those people! That is how we can — one step at a time — help make the world a better place for all of us to live in!
