"Everybody Should Be a Feminist", Yeah... How About No?

in #social7 years ago

My buddy said the following words: "everyone should be a feminist." I shuddered in horror. My friend is a smart guy no doubt, but he couldn't possibly be further from taking the "red pill", swallowing main stream media lies on the daily, and getting his views from comedic holier-than-thou lefties like John Oliver. Like most University students, he came out of school thinking completely different than he did going in, which of course wouldn't be a bad thing, if the views weren't 100 percent the same on every single issue. We do have to question Universities and whether or not they are telling the story of the grander picture, where all views are equally espoused, when every kid comes out like a programmed robot, and thinks you are a bigot if you think otherwise. Needless to say, over the years, the dynamic of our friendship has changed, from being close friends, to being that friend that you sort of walk on eggshells with, hoping to avoid controversy. But what was my reply to his statement? "Naaahhh."

You see my buddy, like many, are under the misguided impression that feminism is the gender equality movement. If you believe that both sexes should have equal rights, than you are indeed a feminist. So, you are basically telling me that a movement that has a clear slanted gender bias in its terminology alone, is seeking out gender equality? A movement which has the end goal of conquering its mortal enemy, the Patriarchy? In other words, in the feminist world, men are the enemy. But don't worry, there is an antidote to this toxic masculinity; feminism. So the question is, how did feminism somehow gain ownership of the idea of gender equality? If you believe in the equality under the law between a man and a woman, why can't you label yourself an egalitarian? Well, that's because in feminists eyes, women still are oppressed by man, despite the fact that not a single feminist will be able to point out a SINGLE law that favors men over women, they are captivated by this powerful invisible force called the patriarchy.
Surely someone who is a feminist and for equality between the genders would care about men's issues too right? Nope. feminism could not possibly care less about issues that men face, pretending like they don't even exist, and demonizing men who dare bring up the injustice of the family court system, the seeming disposability of male life when compared to female life, even domestic abuse, because feminism in the modern sense is based around victimhood, and is the mother of all social justice warrior movements that have been an absolute cancer to society.
The other problem with feminism is that it doesn't exist, or hardly exists where it is actually needed; places like the Middle East where women are subjugated and treated like second-class citizens. Much like 70 years ago in the western world, some feminism would do immense good by securing equality under the law for both men and women alike. But where do most feminists come from? The west, where women have never been had it better in the history of the world... yet still want to complain about it. Western feminists are exposed when they want to complain about first-world non-issues like "man spreading" which is when a man spreads his legs apart in public because it's not comfortable to sit with your knees touching each other when you have balls. I hear crickets everytime I hear about the abuses of women in foreign countries and that exposes feminism in the west as a giant fraud.

I have recently discovered how much the subconscious beating up feminism into my brain since birth has shaped who I am as a person, and I am sure many guys and girls can relate, and are just recovering from the brain washing. The fact is that yes, women are objectified, but so are men. Women are more likely to be objectified sexually, whereas men are more likely to be objectified in terms of what material gain he can bring. Some men beat their wives, and that is awful, but there are also some women who beat their husbands, and feminists really deny that both sexes are equally depraved. Maybe the man will earn more money over his lifetime (by choice), but he will live on average 5 years less than a woman, and do you really think it's easy giving up the majority of your life to be in a sense, a work slave trying to provide for the family? You are really going to argue that in a hypothetical situation where a women stays at home with the kids, while the dad works 6 days a week just to provide an income that the family can live off, that the women is the one that is oppressed? It's a paradigm shift that perhaps takes time to adjust to, but it is the realization that I have made anyway.
