Skydiving Steemians?!?
Who wants to take a leap of faith with me?!? Are you an adrenaline junkie or are you scared of heights?!? If you are still posting and are being active with me currently here on Steemit, then you obviously like living dangerously close to the edge. You are all prime candidates to come jump with me in 2019.
I have been trying all year to find the time to jump but 2018 escapes unscathed. 2019 will not be so lucky. I will be using my gift certificate for Skydive Crosskeys in Williamstown New Jersey. My lovely wife @reeseshara bought it for me last year for my birthday and I have been jonesing to use it ever since.
I will be doing a tandem jump which is when you are attached to an experienced diver. I’ve done it twice already but it’s been almost 20 years since I last jumped. The first time I was 18 and went with my childhood buddy Clark, and my 3 friends...Sarah, April, and Raven from Hobart, Indiana. They flew up to hang and visit and I convinced them all to jump. They were initially No’s but I wore em down. We had a blast. The second time I went with a work friend Daryl, and one of the “English Broads” named Helena, that came to work for the summer at the Country Club I worked at.
The first time I jumped I paid for the video. I still have it on VHS somewhere. This gift certificate includes the video which will be fun to have again. I’ll be sure to post it on here!
I realize with so many of us spread out throughout the globe, it would be hard to have everyone come with me and join me at Crosskeys in Jersey. Although it’s not impossible to get a group of us to jump together here....
My proposition is, let’s jump together. Wherever you are. Find your local spot and let’s make a day, a week, a month...whatever. Let’s dedicate it to doing something fun together. Even if we only get a few of us, it’ll be fun to see this spread and garner a bit of support. Then we can all post about it and share our experiences. I’m thinking spring sometime for me, which would be April-June here. Anyone interested in joining me here or remotely?
I’d love to share my experience jumping because at the time, I was both afraid of heights and planes. Jumping helped aid in bringing me comfort in both of those departments. If there seems to be any support, maybe I’ll tell in detail about it and try and dig out that old vhs and get it up here for folks to see.
Let me know folks. Let’s do something unique and fun!!!

Pretty sure I’m in the too terrified camp... I’ve been thinking about hitting up one of those iFly indoor skydiving experiences for fun. That would probably be my little nod of participation!
Ahhhhhh c’mon. It’s like 45 mins from ya!! Lol. I’ll join ya at the indoor one if you join me for this one. This is the same place I did my other 2 jumps at although it was under a different name then.

It's about 20 years since my one and probably only jump- Not sure if my ticker could deal with it these days, but what an experience!
A few years ago I sent the VHS off somewhere online and they sent it back with a digital copy on CD. The quality is a bit rough but good enough.

Yeah I have to do that as well. Gotta dog it out and have it popped onto a disc. I have to do that with my high school video yearbook as well. I remember doing corny interviews on that. God, I’m getting douche chills thinking about it but it would be funny to pop on next time I’m with my friends as I’m sure nobody has watched it in 20 years.

I've always wanted to but have yet to have the chance to do my first ever sky dive... I will have a look at the potential places to do it here in the UK, and see what I find for Spring season!
Boom!!!!! That would be awesome! It’s an amazing rush. One of the coolest experiences I’ve had. Can’t wait to do it again. Would be fantastic if you were to participate. Would be even better if we got the community behind a shared group even like this.
Boom is maybe not the best sound to be associated with skydiving!! But haha yes I get your point :P Would be awesome indeed, let's see who else is game! I know we can have lots of fun with this, and it could be the motivation I need to finally do it!!

Hehehe - Yes, I would consider it, but in reality I don't think I'm able to spend that money right now - plus I'd have to do some research since I physically won't be able to handle landing on my feet . I'm currently in conversation with a friend of mine who does paragliding on how to maybe 'take me with her' and how we could arrange the landing so that I don't have to take the blow of landing on the ground on my feet. Maybe that's the first step I need to take before taking on an even wilder adventure :D
Fantastic!!! That’s a start. The fact that you are even open to it is super promising. I think we could also let paragliding slide if it were the only one you could do at that moment . 😜
Hahaha! Awesome! Paragliding is definitely something I'd consider doing in the crazy Steem Sky Week if I get an answer on my 'research' hehehe.

I do have! But too expensive for me at the moment - will see in a year or two or three...
For now, I am satisfied with 46m free fall experience. :)
