Surprise birthday sky dive adventure :)

I surprised my girlfriend and took her skydiving for her birthday :)

We went to the drop zone out in Toogoolawah about an hour out of Brisbane Australia. The drop zone is called Ramblers.

On our drive there our front tyre blew out while we were on the highway doing about 110 km an hour. Luckily there was no other cars around and I got the car to stop without losing control.
We were in the middle of nowhere surrounded by paddocks with cows and horses in them. The sun was very hot as I changed the tyre on the side of the road, fitted the spare tyre and we were on our way.

Once we got to the drop zone the lady at the counter said " Why would you two want to jump out of a perfectly good plane? " I guess that is a reasonably good question haha.

Then she continued to tell us that there is more chance of dying in a car accident on your way to go skydiving then there is to actually skydive.

So we told her the story of the tyre blow out on the highway and she just laughed and said good luck, and pointed us in the direction of our tandem skydivers.

After a brief run through of what we have to do, it was hard to concentrate on what they were saying as the adrenalin was starting to pump through me and we haven't even got on the plane yet.

On the walk to the runway to the plane we had to walk past an old gum tree and there was a magpie who had a nest in the tree, so when everyone walked to plane, the magpie would swoop everyone that walked past it. Hahaha added that extra bit of an extreme adventure just to even get to the plane to jump out off.

Once we were on the plane the nerves calmed down a lot until we got to 14,000 ft the door opened and people started jumping, GAME ON !!

It was so crazy to see the guys and girls just get sucked out of the plane, it's so surreal!

I was up next before Renee, I put my feet over the edge and we leant forward and we were falling haha, we rolled out of the plane to watch it fly away then he spun me around to see the Earth coming closer and closer. The sound in your ears is pretty full on when you hit terminal velocity. But super exciting!

He tapped me on the shoulder and proceeded to pull the shoot. Looking up to see the parachute open was a great relief. The flight down was a lot of fun, he gave me a go at controlling the parachute and we were spinning sideways. So much fun. We had a safe landing (didn't fall over) High fived the tandem dude and waited for Renee to land.

It was hard to comprehend what we just did, we shared our story's over a beer then headed home. It was such a crazy experience, It didn't really kick in til the drive home what we just survived.
