SIXWEEKHEALTH WEEK4 CHALLENGE- WALNUT STUFFED BAKED APPLE
Special thanks to @healthsquared for organizing this contest. This week is about making an healthy yet mouth watering dessert that can help keep one fit.
I would like to teach us how to make a walnut stuffed baked apple.
But before I go into the recipe and procedures,I want to briefly talk about the nutrients derived from this dessert. There are lots of vitamins in it such as vitaminA,B5,B6,and B12. There are also lots of minerals both minor and major including calcium,copper,folate,iron,magnesium,manganese,niacin,sodium and potassium.
It is mostly rich in carbohydrate followed by fat and finally proteins. And the most exciting part,NO CHOLESTEROL! Its completely cholesterol free.
Now to the recipe,it is a very cheap dessert to make and the ingredients are easily seen.
Ingredients
These ingredients are for a 4-person recipe.
They include:
- 4 large red apples
- 1/2 cup of walnuts

- 1/4 teaspoon powdered nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon of ground garlic cloves
- 1/2 teaspoonGolden raisons
- 1/2 teaspoonGround cinnamon
- Ground ginger
- 1/4 cup of unsalted butter
Note: If it is difficult to measure,just guage it with your eyes.
PROCEDURES
- Preheat the oven to about 375°F or 180°C.Mix the garlic,ginger,cinnamon,raisons,nutmeg and walnuts in a bowl.
- Core the apples. Use a melon baller or a small spoon to scoop the apple.Leave the flower end on as a bottom.
- Cut the skin around the top of the core hole.The core hole is the space where the core sat.
- Fill the corehole with all the mixture in the bowl..raison,cinnamon and the rest.
- Sprinkle brown sugar,walnuts and add a pat of butter to fill the hole.
![IMG_20180217_174955_651.JPG] - Place each apple into a bowl of little water,this will help keep the apple moist and prevent it from coming out dry. It will also help to form a little apple juice which will add to the flavour.
7.Then bake in the oven for about an hour or any time it gets done.Allow to cool and your delicious walnut stuffed baked apples are ready to eat.
Serving
You can serve with a cup of orange juice.
