Showcase-Sunday, a chance for posts old and.. erm, old to rear their ugly head again.

I chose this post because after coming back from holiday Inn Friday I found the remains of some animal glued to the hall carpet. It looked vaguely bird/rat/vole-esque.

Twas obviously a gift from my fine feline friends/pets and it reminded me of this post I wrote when they also gifted me something foul.

And yes. I can be this annoying...

Each journey, no matter how big, begins with just one step

I said inscrutably.

The good lady glowered at me.

Just take the rubbish out and enough with the wisdoms please!?!

I gave a half bow and went to do her bidding.

Today I had woken up feeling remarkably perky and astonishingly wise. It was as if I had been visited in the night by the very essence of enlightenment.

Which makes a change from the usual sordid twoddle that goes on in my dreams.

I felt it my duty to share my wisdom with the world. The good lady however, did not seem so appreciative.

For example, later that morning she was giving me a complex multitude of instructions for looking after the kids as she had to go to her work for a couple of hours.

Whilst she spoke I stroked my chin and gently nodded. Finally she finished.

So you got that Daddy bear? You know where the snacks and stuff are?

I cocked my head to one side.

To truly listen, one must first open their ears.

What, what the hell is that got to do with anything?

Only through death can one truly live.

She stared at me bluntly as if I were a pizza she had burnt in the oven.

Hmm. Hell mend you then.

She went off to her work to count on an abacus or whatever she did.

I set about the serious business of Daddy'ing. The day was a successful one and it seemed like no time at all before the good lady was back.

I greeted her with the little boom in my arms.

Everything go ok Daddy bear?

Perhaps dreams are how we truly see?

Oh lord, you are still at it.

We are but threads in this grand tapestry that is life.

Oh I give up.

She stomped into the kitchen where she stopped at the doorway.

Oh no, have you seen this?

I joined her at the doorway and gagged loudly.

What the hell, oh man.

One of our cats had caught a bird. I say caught loosely because it looked as if it had whizzed a bird in a blender then tipped it out all over the floor.

As we stared in horror at the slaughter, an eye opened in one of the bigger red raggedy bits. That bit started thrashing around, smearing blood and feathers around it in a pitiful circle.

At that moment the little boom started to wail his distinctive hungry wail.

The good lady lifted him from my arms.

Look like you're on clean-up, Daddy bear!

She chuckled gleefully.

Aw man, but look at it! That bit's still alive!?

The good lady turned as she left the kitchen to deliver a boobing to the little boom.
