Pink Runs to Sepia

It's Saturday and wouldn't you just know it. It is raining in Vancouver. It is April. Makes sense. April and May and June (and September, October, November, December, January, February, and March) showers keep summer forest fires to a minimal and so I welcome the drench. Although I do wish nature would get her timing right and only rain at night. The weather outside is frightful ... I stole that line ... so it is a great day to do some blogging and arting.

Those who have been following me this week will notice a trend ... pink, pink, pink. It is cherry blossom season in Vancouver and it is hard to get away from red's faded, fluffy, and somewhat needy cousin. The opening piece of digital art is the second version of a very rosy one featured earlier this week in Sakura at Dusk. This version is far less pink, way more sepia, and for some reason a little depressing. Looks like the illustration for the Geisha version of Rain, Rain, Go Away

Even AI-powered parasol drones are getting in on the act. Here is a shot from my #MarketFriday. Market Friday is hosted by the beautiful and talented @dswigle. In Vancouver, umbrellas fall with the rain. Handy.

(Insert laugh track)

What happens to pink when it gets wet. It runs to sepia. I don't have a sepia filter on my computer and so I fiddled about in my photo editor to get the desired result. I think we have strayed from the photography realm into digital art but I like the result. Looks like a drawing but took a fraction of the time it would have taken to actually draw it. (Do I get extra credit, Paul) @old-guy-photos.

Now hold on. I am about to get serious. You've been warned.
And haiku ...

The shot above looks as though it could have been taken last summer in the height of the forest fire season. It is an altered photo also from my market friday post. Felt very post-apocalyptic to me and a haiku was born. I will leave you with a segmented view. Now it feels art-deco. Funny how perspective and shade can change the story a picture tells.

Really enjoyed this post! Love the haiku! It started raining before 6 am today and is still raining at 9:30 pm. The weather man says that the sun will be out tomorrow - we are only in the 50's tonight, but that's okay because summer can wait...we already had one day of a high temp of 90 last week!

Thank you, Violet. Wow! 90 degrees in April. That is hot. We rarely get that hot even in August.

I love this post! It didn't hurt that you mentioned #MarketFriday, just so you know! It never hurts to see it being advertised.

The sepia tones are very post-apocalyptic. That was a very astute observation and I would never have come up with it, but, when you said it, it rang true. I like how you have it depicted nonetheless.

Oh, you are totally the Queen of Haiku!

"Funny how perspective and shade can change the story a picture tells."

That. That right there. See you get it totally. That perfectly summarizes the whole essence of the challenge! Well done, Pryde!

Thanks, Paul, and thank you for the nudge in the direction:)

Fantastic images and a delightful haiku as well! I agree that rain should fall at night, and never on weekends.

Thanks for the visit and lovely comment, Melinda:)

I'm voting for the extra credit (Come on, OGP...) Loved your discussion on Red's fluffy cousin. Very fun yes. Those photos of the city in 'summer smoke', as you discussed, reminded me of last summer very much. But I couldn't place the familiarity, and from where it arose, until reading your take on it. And then, 'vwaalaah', that was it. Amazing how different 'workings' on the same image, give a totally different feel to it.

The mind is so subjective and impressionable. That is for sure. Thanks, DD:)

Loved it, the word's and the pictures :)

Thanks, Ray. Lovely to see you on steemit again:)
