Most AI is not about creating a sentient being, rather just making systems and data analysis more efficient at scale. This can drive costs down for businesses or open entirely new capabilities to make their product/services more attractive to customers. So, it will be adopted, just like the Internet and cloud technologies have been embraced. But with it, comes risks. We need to be thinking about those risks now, before they become exploitable in systems which control our health, credit, transportation, defense, critical infrastructure, etc.
