Scorum is an exciting project based around all things "sports" that I have been following for a while now.

I first learned about Scorum when the dev team @scorum.community joined us on the Bitshares Hangout #56 back in October of 2017. At the time there was a big discussion about atomic swaps between chains including mainstream crypto like Litecoin.

The scope of the project, breaking off a sports community from the STEEM chain, was interesting to me as the chaotic mix here on Steemit has often lead to unjustified censorship by one community against another. We had been seeing this already happening against the pro-cannabis and nsfw communities as they began to splinter off to create their own genre-specific blockchains. So to me the idea of having an all sports community was a given.

Thankfully I was able to scoop up some OPEN.SCR when OpenLedger made them available on the DEX that would give me a decent starting stake when the platform launched.

If you are holding OPEN.SCR and need to move it over, simply use the withdraw process on OpenLedger and drop in your Scorum username. As soon as the transaction is settled, under a minute, you will see the balance in your Scorum wallet.

The Wait is Over!

It's been crazy the past 2 weeks with the launch of the EOS Blockchain, which is something I am also heavily involved with and delayed me posting about this news, but as you might have guessed already...

The SCORUM Beta launched a few days ago as well.

I must say for a first-draft beta it looks fantastic and functions really nice. Sure, there are some features and functions that are not in place yet, but - it's a beta. When you get right down to it, you really wouldn't know it was built from the Steemit source code.

Once of the first things you will notice is that the blogging, fantasy sports, stats, and wallet break out into their own separate platforms (so to speak) they are connected, but operate on their own as well.

You will also find your token holdings info right at the top including your vote power value that recharges in real-time. Very cool! The information you want to see is always where you want it to be, the folks at Steemit Inc could sure learn a bit from how the Scorum dev team put this platform together.

There are some fundamental differences to the way voting and token stake is managed, for example the power down time-frame is 12 months (52 weeks) versus 13 weeks on Steemit today. This is very important for new platforms as it helps to create a stable platform over the long-term. Steemit had a similar time in the first year as well.

Join us Sports Fans!

It's you into sports, any sports, they have category tags for everything from Soccer to Badminton and everything in between, jump on over and join Scorum.

Accounts are quick to setup. You will need to verify your email, cell phone (text code), make a passcode, copy down your seed words, and then you are given your private key. The whole process takes about 2 minutes.

These are the early days when you content contributions will be rewarded nicely and help earn you a solid stake in the platform going forward. Just remember, we are in this for the long-haul, a minimum of 12 months.
