Voyager 1 and 2 probes celebrate 40 years away from humanity
It's been 40 years since the Voyager 1 probe left Earth. It was a little more than two weeks after his twin Voyager 2. While the first vogue in interstellar space since a few years, the second should not delay to cross this door. The two spacecraft, furthest away from humanity, have made great discoveries that have redrawn the Solar System and the giant planets visited. Carrying with them testimonies of life on the Blue Planet, Voyager 1 and 2 are traces of mankind sinking into the Galaxy. An endless journey.
The main discoveries of Voyager 1 and 2
Voyager 1 and 2 literally changed our understanding of the Solar System. The first had the opportunity to visit the two largest planets, Jupiter and Saturn, and the second, the four giant ones. A great tour that allowed humanity to make great discoveries and open its eyes for the first time on very different worlds from each other.
The Voyager mission thus unveiled the active volcanoes of Io, which was unpublished at the time, provided the first indications of the possible existence of an ocean of liquid water on Europe, another moon of Jupiter, shown amazing atmosphere of Titan, presented the moons of Uranus and also the geysers of Triton, moon of Neptune. And many more discoveries, not to mention those on the interstellar medium and those that are coming.
If in 1977, missions had already been sent to the nearest planets including Mars and Venus, the outer planets remained them, practically unexplored and many gray areas hovered over their characteristics. Today, the data collected by Voyager has revolutionized the knowledge of these planets and astronomy.
The probes were the first to fly over the planets Neptune and Uranus and the seconds to visit Jupiter and Saturn. Scientists were able to understand in more detail the structure of the rings of Saturn but also the atmosphere of the giant and other planets. It is also to Voyager 1 and 2 that we owe the discovery of the rings of Jupiter as well as 33 new moons.
We also owe them the first images of the Great Red Spot, this gigantic storm the size of two Lands raging on Jupiter and never stops intriguing scientists. But if the Voyager mission has already become unique in its aspects, it has also distinguished itself by another rather original feature.
A testimony of humanity in the universe
This is of course the "Golden Records", small gold discs embedded on board the two space vehicles. These 12-inch gold-plated copper video discs contain nearly 115 analog images, ranging from landscapes to planets in the Solar System, to snapshots of DNA structure.
In addition, audio files have been added: messages of greetings delivered in almost 55 languages by Terrians, cries of animals, music of all kinds, sounds of rain, wind or thunder. All these elements are supposed to serve as testimonies of humanity towards possible extraterrestrial populations.
True "bottles to the cosmic sea", these discs also include engraved symbols, acting as "instructions for use" to decipher the codes to read their content as well as clues on how to find the Earth. 40 years later, this information still does not seem to have found a recipient!

Nice work and well-written. Looking forward to more content like this.
I hope i will live and see the dicoveries that the humankind will make.
We probably not the only lifeform from all that planets that are out there.
We are just at the begining of the space exploring!
