The face of the disease. The disease can be seen in the face
Even if a sick person does not sneeze or cough, you can still distinguish it from a healthy person - because the disease is literally written on his face. In the experiment, researchers from the Karolinska Institute participated volunteers who agreed that they would be given an injection of bacteria - pathogenic, but not very dangerous; for comparison, some were given placebo instead of bacteria. A few hours later, during which the immunity was supposed to feel the bacteria and launch a defensive reaction, the experiment participants were photographed, and their photos taken before and after the injection showed other people who should have identified who was sick and who was not.
An article in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B states that those who looked at the photo, in 81% of cases correctly identified the patient from the healthy; the authors of the work also write that of all the signs of ill health, the most pronounced is pallor and swollen eyelids. Indeed, during the illness, the facial features change slightly - the face swells slightly, the skin turns pale, the eyes turn red, etc., and this can be seen, as they say, with the naked eye; however, no one has yet verified how reliably we identify patients “by eye”.
