Psychological and emotional care in labor

in #science4 years ago

Nurses must always be trained in any situation that may arise in the hospital in the delivery room area, which is why it is very important to keep up the ethical training taught during the years of study.

When dealing with any patient it is necessary to maintain patience, understanding and love for what is being done, so in this way the patient will receive a pleasant and honest treatment despite the circumstance in which they can be found.

Did you know that this can even cure?

There are people who arrive very seriously in emergency with very strong pains, and with the simple fact of being treated in a pleasant, cordial and ethical way they go out of consultation feeling much better, and they have not even started treatment.

In the delivery room it is important to keep this margin with the patients, because remember that bringing a life to the world is not an easy job at all.

At the time of receiving the patient, admission to the waiting area and then to the delivery room area must be made correctly.

You should always be told that you must remain calm and have too much patience, this is more for mothers who are first time (this means that it is the first time they are pregnant and therefore the first time they will give birth). You should always try to eliminate that fear of the moment of childbirth and transform it into a moment of happiness that will be accompanied later by motherhood and sharing with your relatives.

That is why it is important to maintain proper prenatal control. What does this mean? that it is significant to be able to sustain family planning, so in this way the couple prepares before, during and after pregnancy, and of course that more emphasis is placed on the woman since she will be who will go through labor.

In this way, all those anatomical, physiological, psychological and emotional changes through which the woman will go to the time of pregnancy are introduced from the beginning, and thus at the time of delivery and to be prepared and relate this to a maternal feeling. childish.

Although the preparation of the birth should have been explained during all the weeks of pregnancy planning, it should be remembered at the time of giving birth, this is done through breathing, relaxation and expulsion techniques.

A technique that is used at the time of delivery with respect to breathing is the following; it consists of placing the pregnant woman with one arm resting on her chest and the other arm resting on the abdomen, she will be asked to inhale air deeply while feeling her abdomen rise and maintain that air for approximately 4 to 8 seconds and then expire and feel with your hand on your chest as it falls.

This is a psychological and physiological technique, since you distract the pregnant woman from the pain she is feeling at that moment since you indicate that she should pay attention to the moment her abdomen and chest move, so that the pain attention will decrease little bit.

And it is a physiological technique since it is directly breathing in a correct way that will help to properly oxygenate the tissues, so it helps the whole metabolism in general. In addition the thought will change since as it is a relaxed breath your body will relax.

It is of interest to keep the pregnant woman calm not to be afraid since this leads directly to both psychological and anatomical tension and therefore will lead to a physiological change such as pain. Therefore, you should explain that you should collaborate since the more fear you have, the muscles responsible for interfering in labor are stiffer, so the pain will be greater and labor will be more difficult.

In some clinics (private companies) and thanks to new laws in other countries the father is allowed to enter the delivery room, this is a fundamental participation both physically and emotionally, since the mother is not surrounded by people she does not know.

Information is the greatest weapon we can have to fight fear. Most of the time women who will give birth do not know what is happening with their body or before, during and after childbirth. The medical and nursing staff should be in charge of promoting information so that the woman knows about all these changes and that these are totally normal at the time of pregnancy.

Thank you for this post. Very gently explains an important part of the birthing experience. As you explain, this can be a traumatic experience for the mother, and proper preparation by staff will be a big help. Giving birth is natural, and also daunting, especially for a first birth. The way a mother is received and assisted can make an enormous difference in her experience. And, this is the first time she will be meeting her child. It's probably a good idea to have her in a positive frame of mind at that first meeting.
Good luck in your work.
