"God's forgiveness is assured"

Greetings to the whole community.

In this message we will share about "God's forgiveness is assured".

God's forgiveness seems too good to be true. Every time I talk about forgiveness, someone asks me: "Are you sure God forgave me when I asked for it?", Or "I do not feel forgiven, maybe that did not happen".

I often encourage these people with problems by reminding them that God is faithful and that he keeps his promises. Then, I list several of the promises of forgiveness that God has given us.

The first is an "east-west" promise. God takes away our sin and takes it away from us "to the extent that the east is from the west" (Psalm 103: 12). Now, think about it for a moment. It is an infinite distance, a place that can not be located on the map.

Then we have the promise of "amnesia" from the Lord. As it is difficult for us to live, God forgives us so completely that he does not even remember our sin once we have repented and have known his mercy. "I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins" (Jeremiah 31:34).

Sometimes, it is difficult for us to forgive and let the other person go free because we continue to mention our guilt continually. We believe that God, who is holy, keeps the record of all our sins before Him all the time, but it is not so. When we ask God to forgive us for some sin that we have committed and that we have already confessed, He may wonder what we are talking about. He has already forgotten.

God has also given us the promise that I like to call "spot remover." It is through the prophet Isaiah that God tells us: "Are your sins like scarlet? They will be white as snow!" (Is 1:18)

Imagine throwing grape juice in a white shirt. Only a very powerful stain remover could clean it, but it is very likely that there is a violet halo. When God forgives us, there is not a speck left of the filth of sin.

Finally, we have the promise of God "maritime depth" to which the prophet Micah refers. God "throws all our sins to the bottom of the sea" when we repent and receive his forgiveness (7: 9).

Most of us have trouble to forgive our partner until we face our own need for the amazing divine forgiveness. Once we are faced with the enormous pain we have caused the Father, we begin to understand that the worst offense in marriage, including adultery, has no point of comparison.

Well said @mamidalia "Most of us have trouble to forgive our partner until we face our own need for the amazing divine forgiveness." I think it's the most wonderful thing we can experience in our lives.
Thanks for sharing.
