A significant reflection: leave everything behind

Greetings and blessings to the whole family of @Steemchurch.

I share a significant message about the call that the Lord Jesus made to a Jew, a tax collector, called Matthew.

After several years of counting money, writing payment receipts and collecting taxes for the Romans from his Jewish compatriots, Matthew finally heard an offer he could not refuse. "Follow me," Jesus told him, and as soon as Matthew heard those words, "leaving everything, he got up and followed him" (Lk 5, 27-28).

Look at the words you use to emphasize your call to ministry. He tells us to leave everything: money, his connections with the Roman government and the powerful position he occupied.
He left everything except, thank God, his talent for keeping an accurate record of the facts. Before his conversion, his name had been Levi, the son of Alpheus (Mr 2:14). But as soon as he accepted Christ's call to the ministry, Jesus gave him a new name that means "gift of God." When Luke and Mark refer to Matthew, they identify him as Levi, but in Matthew 10: 3 he refers to himself as "Matthew the publican," a reminder of the past he had given up.

What "old life" did you leave to completely follow the Son of God?

@Kimbie09, certainly following Jesus implies living a new life and leaving everything old. DTB
