Against the World, the Key Word is Faith

Against the external enemy, the world, the key word is faith. "Because everything that is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith "(1 John 5: 4).

Faith is what defeats the world. In verse 5, John goes on to say: "Who is it that overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?" It is not only faith in the general sense, it is the specific faith in Jesus. To see that he is the Son of God, that is the victory that defeats the world.

How does it work? Remember how the worldly Christian is. It is someone with a high ego, someone who is trying to satisfy the hunger for hidden life, with an impious value system. What is a Christian? A Christian is someone who has seen Jesus with eyes of faith and understands how wonderful he is, and who has found his satisfaction in the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Bible says in 1 John 2:15: "If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him." That is a tremendous verse. Now notice that it does not say: you do not love the Father because you love the world. It says the opposite, you love the world because the love of the Father is not in you.

What to do when the red light comes on

You are driving your car and look at the board. He sees a red light come on that he had not seen before. It has the symbol of a small can of oil. Even if you do not know anything about auto mechanics, you do know that light is a warning.

It means that the engine of your car has lost oil, therefore it is low on oil. If you continue to drive like this, you could damage the engine.

Faith is what makes Jesus real in our lives. Worldlings have never found their satisfaction in Jesus.

If you ever see that the little red light on the dashboard of your car lights up, let me tell you what to do. Keep a hammer under the front seat; and when that little light comes on, break it with a hammer. This will turn off and there will be no more problems. Yes, just take the hammer and break it, and problem solved.

Is this good advice? Of course not! That red light on the board is just a warning. Which one? Your car's engine needs oil, and attacking light is not the answer.

You have never been told to fight the world. If it is worldly there is only one reason to be, its engine does not have the spiritual oil. "... If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him" (1 John 2:15). We all want to be satisfied. The reason why most people do not find satisfaction is because they are looking for it in the wrong place. When we see what we have in the Lord Jesus Christ, and we really understand who he is, the world loses charm for us because we are already satisfied.

If you are satisfied with a delicious meal, you will not want the crumbs of the devil. Say you are going to offer a wonderful dinner, an exquisite beef tenderloin with baked potatoes, salad and large glasses of ice cold lemonade. And how about a lemon cake as a dessert? It, ll be great! And suppose that after dinner I go out and someone offers me a plate of stale crumbs or something that smells rotten, telling me:

"Here, have something to eat." I would say: "No thanks, I am more than satisfied". When you feed on Jesus, you do not need to be in the alley eating from the garbage dumps the devil offers you.

The apostle John says: "... If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him" (1 John 2:15). How do you deal with the sin of worldliness? Through faith!

We need to ask ourselves: "Do I really have faith?" The Scripture says: "... this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? "(1 John 5: 4, 5). "Put your eyes on Christ so full of grace and love and the worthless earthly thing will be in the light of blessed Jesus" 8. A worldly Christian is someone who has not found his satisfaction in Jesus Christ.
