Steemit Payouts Again
I got an answer to my question yesterday, so what I do get for my post is, OK, I knew this one, about 75% of what your post made, the rest going to curation. So that 75% is let's say $10.00, $5.00 are converted to SP at the current price of Steem to the USD and are sent to your SP balance, the other $5.00 are converted to SBD at 1SBD=1 USD, so in this case if Steem and SBD both were worth $5.00 each you would receive the following:
Steem Power= $1.00
Steem Dollars= 5 SBD
So this post that was worth $10.00 will have actually given you $26.00, why? Because each SBD is worth $5.00 and you are getting 5 of them. Now if you had powered up at 100% you would have gotten 2 Steem to power up better said $10.00. Obviously this just brings me to one conclusion, if SBD are worth over $1.00 it is absolutely better to go the 50/50 way, if it is below $1.00 the 100% option is better.
So right now I will continue at the 50/50 option, and I don't understand why some people are happy that SBD is going down, I certainly see no benefit for us users in this.
It is nice having SBD high, but it's likely to return to $1 some day. SBD is 'pegged' to the dollar and was never expected to rise in value like this. It's being treated as if they were worth $1, while they actually trade much higher. Essentially, the 'peg' is broken.
I think the reason people are hoping to see SBD restored to $1, is in theory, this should result in a much higher STEEM value. Most people have been buying STEEM with their SBD (at amazing rates), so having STEEM rise up is in their best interest.
Also with SBD back at $1, it can be used as a hedge if STEEM drops in value - see it dip, sell to SBD @ $1, then buy STEEM again at a discount. All with instant transactions and no fees. The STEEM economy is amazing.
Keep your eyes on the prize: STEEM can be converted to "vests" or "STEEM POWER" which is what determines your influence on the platform.
