I kind of hate butter on my bread ever since I decided to cut down on too much everyday fat (used to be overweight 10 years ago), so now I use cheese spread (like Philadelphia) and when combined with jam it feels like some cheesecake variation. They go together really well for my taste. You should try it if you can't have butter, but you can have dairy.

I'm trying to just cut way back on butter and cheese to see if that is enough to lower my "bad" cholesterol. It's been kind of easy to be honest. I'd gotten lazy, and a hunk of cheese on a cracker with butter was my go to snack several times a day. I was asking for it! But thanks for that tip, I will try it!
