External Funding Day and Scientific Brain Drain in Austria
Dear Steemians,
Prof. Dr. Klement Tockner, president of the Austrian Science Fund FWF made a statement:
If you pass the highly competitive review process at FWF and your application gets approved you won't receive any funding.
Apart from dialect English and the fact that he has repeated the statement again from the FWF press conference in June 19, 2017(!!), basic research does not seem to be of importance in Austria and this wonderful country therefore seems not to have any intentions of changing this horrid status quo.
The icy cold of University Vienna's great ceremonial hall on that afternoon seemed to be a sign of death.
Never before aesthetic beauty of cealing fresco had more sarcasm inside its murals!
If you are someone who is working in field of basic research in Austria and you get the chance of an one way ticket, don't hesitate to leave. It's not worth a tear this whole charade!
Conclusion: Stay on the dark side of knowledge and you will have a chance of being successful.

Versteh´ ich nicht; wie hat er das gemeint? Das kann ja nicht ernst gemeint sein, dann könnte man sich ja die ganzen Beamten vom FWF gleich einsparen, wenn sie keine Mittel mehr vergeben.
Ich versteh nicht wie man zweimal das Gleiche wiederholen kann. Wenn er heute wenigstens gesagt hätte, "wir hatten einmal dieses und jenes Problem gehabt und haben aber dieses und jenes unternommen, eine erfolglose Anfrage beim Wissenschaftsministerium gehabt etc." dann wäre ich nicht so in Rage. Was hat er seit Juni gemacht?? Das sind Steuergelder! Hab heute alles auf Tape aufgezeichnet ;) Sollte man vllt ein Youtube Video mit entsprechenden Ausschnitten erstellen
