Banog-banog cultural show 2023
Two years had passed
April 18, 2023 is the best day ever! My Barangay won back-to-back on the Banog-banog cultural show on the 105th foundation day of our municipality!
As a barangay volunteer, I and my colleagues went to the municipal gym at 4 in the morning. It was quite dark at that time but we are all wide awake leaving our families at home to do our duties.

We all traveled through motorcycles; the Barangay vehicles had to carry something more important; they carried the dancers, props and the music instruments that would make our beautiful Barangay very proud.
These are the dancers already wearing their attire for the street dancing competition. There will be street dancing from the municipal hall to the municipal gym and they will have to stop to perform on the streets where the judges stayed
Everyone is busy; there are 22 Barangays in Manolo Fortich who had near to same cultures and practices collaborated. Our Barangay Alae collaborated with Barangay Mantibugao and Minsoro and the latter is rich in culture them and Mantibugao mostly did the farming while Alae is where the trading and commerce is done even back in the earlier days,
Other Barangays ha their owns stories to tell too but ours is what I almost familiar with.
I even have second thoughts of coming here because I cannot go with my wife who had been dreaming to see one. We opted to see the Kaamulan street dancing competition but it was way too far and traveling alone would take so much time. Our duties and responsibilities made us decide to just let it pass for now and we are hoping that someday,we will be witnessing the grand culture festival on our province
To protect our dancers, we aided the traffic as they walked through the road. The activity created a heavy traffic but I bet that the travelers enjoyed the display.
The good thing is that we had some time to spare after the dancers arrived at the municipal gym and we took pictures and selfies to commemorate this special event.
Banog is a Philippine serpent eagle and it has been an honor that the forests we have here had been the home to the magnificent creature.
Music Instruments, Costumes and Props
Because of diverse culture, each of the contingents have different props, costume and presentation bit some used recorded music which lessened the essence of culture and indigenousity in my opinion.
The program started with a parade and street dancing where they will be heading to the municipal gymnasium for the program proper and presentation.
The presentations were all colorful and wonderful as well but only one should win; that's what competitions are as we know and our barangay won as a champion in cultural show, and street dancing competition! Not only that, they also won minor prizes!
I only took videos and rewatching it and screen shoting on the best parts will take time. I wish I will be able to share with you the snaps I took on the contest .
It's been a very long day for me and my heart is full of joy and happiness!
See you in a bit, I'll take my rest for now. Adios!
