The Diary Game: 17-07-2026 | When You Are Sick, But Have a Daughter Who Only Wants Her "Mama"
Today started out pretty much like every other regular morning in our household. The dawn broke, and right on cue, the sweet, familiar footsteps of my little daughter padded into our room. She hopped onto the bed to join my husband and me for our usual morning cuddles and greetings. It is always the best way to wake up, seeing her bright eyes full of energy, completely oblivious to how exhausted her parents might be. After those few minutes of morning bonding, it was time to shift into full "mom mode."
My first line of duty was heading straight to the kitchen to get her breakfast ready. A growing toddler waits for no one! Once her meal was sorted, I transitioned into fixing breakfast for my husband and myself. While our food was bubbling away on the stove, I didn’t just sit idle; I used that window of time to tackle my daily house chores, sweeping, tidying up the living room, and organizing the space to keep the house looking decent.
At a point, my wonderful husband stepped in and took over some of the tasks so I could focus entirely on completing my duties in the kitchen. Having a supportive partner truly makes a difference on busy mornings. After a short while, breakfast was served, and we all ate together as a family.
Instead of taking a break after breakfast, I decided to play it smart. I immediately started preparing my daughter’s lunch. My strategy for the day was simple: finish every single kitchen chore and meal prep by afternoon so that my kitchen would be completely closed until evening. I wanted to free up my time to face other pressing matters later in the day.
However, life has a way of twisting our plans. Just as I finished the final round of cooking, a wave of sickness hit me. My eyes started itching terribly, growing heavy, watery, and irritated. Dealing with an oncoming illness is hard enough on its own, but it becomes a different ballgame when you have a toddler who is a total "mommy’s girl."
Despite her father being right there and fully available to help, my daughter wanted absolutely nothing to do with him today. It had to be "Mama" or nobody! I have lost count of how many times she has called "Mama!" today, it must be in the millions by now! 😂 Even though my eyes are aching and my body is begging for rest, her tiny voice keeps pulling me back. There is a peculiar kind of joy mixed with exhaustion when your child prefers you so fiercely, even when you are under the weather.
Right now, she has finally drifted off into a nap. I have successfully stolen this quiet, peaceful little window of time to quickly share how my day is going with this amazing community before she wakes up. Because I know the moment those little eyes open, she will continue calling "Mama" right from where she stopped! 😂
Thank you all for reading through my chaotic but blessed day. How do you handle your kids when you are feeling under the weather? Let me know in the comments!
Hola amiga.
@sabrip thanks for your reply, I really appreciate, this really means a lot to me, now I know I'm not alone. We are indeed a warrior. I'm a first time mom, it's really a whole new world for me.
