The 10 BEST Raw Food Entree Recipes

in recipes •  6 months ago

Hey, lovely.

Do you find yourself wanting to eat better, but don’t quite know where to start? If so, you’re not alone. There are a lot of people who understand that what they eat affects their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. But when it comes to actually preparing the food, they’re downright confused.

That’s where I come in. As an RHN, chef, Reiki therapist and ACE-certified Personal Trainer, it is my mission to help people like you form healthier relationships with food. You see, food doesn’t just keep our bodies going. When we allow it to, it can nourish us on many levels. The way food is prepared, the emotional state we are in when we eat it, and the type of food — among other factors — affect digestion and, as a result, how our bodies heal.

A couple of years ago, I wrote up “The 10 BEST Raw Food Breakfast Recipes.” People have enjoyed that post so much, I decided to craft another one. This time, we’ll be focusing on some of the best raw vegan entrees out there.

What is “raw” and “vegan”?

Before we get to the list, what do the terms “raw” and “vegan” mean? "Raw" means uncooked or prepared below 118 degrees F. Those who adhere to this form of eating do so to keep the enzymes which assist digestion and other metabolic processes intact. "Vegan" means free from any and all animal products, including eggs, dairy, and meat.

In my opinion, a raw and vegan diet is the cleanest way of eating you can adopt for detoxification and healing. Some people stick to the diet long-term (my diet is at least 50% raw, for instance). Others eschew animal products and dine on raw fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and leafy greens for a couple of weeks at a time to “reboot” their systems.

If you want to include a raw vegan recipe into your regime every week, great! If you want to stick to the lifestyle long-term, super for you! The following recipes are ones I’ve personally tried and recommend.

As you eat more unprocessed, plant-based food, you may find that your mood improves, your energy levels increase, and your thoughts become more clear. There are many reasons to eat more raw and vegan entrees but rather than bore you with them, I’ll just share the list so you can get started eating healthier. Enjoy!

1) Raw Zucchini Pasta With Creamy Avocado-Cucumber Sauce

Zucchini noodles are a great alternative to grain-based pasta, which can promote inflammation and slow down digestion. If you’re on a cleanse or just want to feel your best, spiralize zucchini with a spiralizer and toss them with a sauce, such as this creamy avocado-cucumber dressing.

2) Delectable Raw Chili

Many people love chili but dislike that they get bloated and gassy after eating a lot of beans. After indulging in this raw and vegan version, you'll feel grounded yet energized.Get the recipe here.

3) Tomato and Parsley Quiche [Low-Glycemic]

This raw recipe stuns whomever it is served to. This is because it is beautiful to look at, is low-glycemic, and tastes delicious. I crafted this recipe while working at a ketogenic cancer clinic in Bangkok, Thailand.
