@Kristyglas random-games entry -Collection's

in #random-games6 years ago (edited)

@Kristyglas has posted a new competition in random-games to show off your collections. I was a bit stuck for what to choose. I have most of the starwars micro machines, I have a good collection of beads, I have an abundance of origami paper and all the dust bunny's you could ever want.

Just today she helped make up my mind by offering another giveaway here:

My collection (shared collection) without further ado is boardgames.

My two favourites are Firefly which is beautifully thematic and lets you play as moral or immoral as you like as you try to make your way through the big 'verse. (Think traditional Western with spaceships instead of horses)

My other favourite is not actually pictured Star Wars Armarda.

This is a tabletop war game with spaceships. One of my favourite features of this game is that once in motion everything stays in motion and so you have to carefully plan ahead so you don't crash your ships or fly off the board.
The capital ships also come fully painted taking away some of the pain of traditional tabletop war games.

Game of thrones and star wars caught my eyes. It's amazing

The Game of thrones is one of the few 'risk' adaptions that makes sense and they have done an excellent job. Game set up is a bit painful though and I haven't played it often. Star Wars is a lot of fun also a painful setup, but how can you resist a game with such cool spaceships.

That's awesome @gmatthe2. I'm not really familiar with board games but @mivstar is quite keen - hopefully she'll see this post too :D

The Firefly one you can play solo as well as in a group, which is fun. I'm a member of our local tabletop gaming group so I get to play a lot of different boardgames. Some more successfully than others. It's a lot of fun, if you get the chance you should definitely give it a go.

Dont know most of these, great collection. I had carcassonne but we lost alot of pieces. Remember it being a lot if fun, want to play it again :)

You should definitely give it another go if you can find a more complete set.

I love it! I also have board games, and I'm trying to get my daughters hooked so that they will play with me when they grow up!

I was a huge fan of firefly! I didn't know there was a board game, now I have to have it!

Firefly is a wonderful game. Full of little Easter eggs, such as Jayne's shiny hat. Aim to misbehave cards and crew cards which include Yolanda, Saffron and Bridget with a note to discard the other two if one is in play. Each card with an item for sale or a crew member to hire also includes a quote from the series.

Oh wow! I've already put it on my Amazon wishlist... I see there are many expansions!

As a German I of course know the Settlers of Catan and Carcassonne but most of the other games I don't know. Have fun playing them!

Thank you. I love the game play of those two. Germany has produced some stellar games. Hats off to your fellow countrymen.

Good collection, I love the games of tables, as long as they are not like zatura or jumanji you can have a good time without traumas.

Thank you, I think I would be eaten pretty quickly in Jumanji. Reading the rules is always a good start to new games.

I am amused by the Star Wars tabletop game. It must be fun playing that. How is it? Can that be played by one person alone? Or others are needed to maneuver the other crafts?

@bengy featured your origami post on the Pay it Forward Curation Contest but I am late visiting that post and is already payout. That is why I came to check and support your other posts and found this.

Great collection you have there! Good luck on Krity's game. 😊

Thank you @macoolette, the Star Wars one is a lot of fun, but it does need a minimum of two players.

To be honest it kind of has a chess like feel. Each ship has its own maneuverability, size, firepower and shielding, and while you don't have to have different ships I normally play with one big ship, one or two medium and two small ships which I can use harrass the enemy ships.

Each ship also has a number of commands which are made in advance (Further mimicking that chess like need to plan at least a few steps ahead).

For example the rebel ship Home One led by admiral Akbar has three commands which can be changed every third turn whereas one of Princess Leia's little corvette ships only have one command which can be changed every turn.

These commands include fire power boost, early call of squadrons, recover shields and most importantly adjust speed.

This means that I can speed up or slow down the small ship every turn, but it may take up to three turns before I can speed up or slow down my large ship.

I lost one game fairly spectacularly by ramming my own Capital ship, which then slowed that ship enough for my partner's Imperial star destroyer to bombard both of my ships to pieces.

If you love spaceships and epic battles to their firey death. I highly recommend this game.

Whoah! I am not really a Star Wars fan but I was fascinated by your collection and now how it is played. I am not sure if we have that here because if I am not mistaken, games like those are really for collector's item. I see some of my FB friends even order from the overseas.

You have a nice collection there @gmatthe2! And I too was unsure what to showcase as my collection but decided on the one easiest to reach. I watched the movies but have not played the boardgames before. Oh wow, I see GoT there! Sweet!
