Woke (5-Minute Freewrite Challenge)
Good day freewriters! I got my freewrite entry this time for the prompt "working hard". The 5-Minute Freewrite Challenge is an initiative by @mariannewest. Everyone are all welcome to participate in this challenge by checking the profile of @mariannewest, as well as @freewritehouse.
Emee is once an active social media user, which started during the early years of such platforms. Back then, she engaged in healthy conversations with people, even with opposing opinions. Arguments are expressed in a positive way without disrespect towards the other person.
Despite her social media presence, she still has time to socialize in person. No online addictions, there's interaction with other people. But as years go by, she noticed how the social media atmosphere has changed. As more people uses the platforms, it's getting more toxic. Influences are greeting too off.
Many social media users cannot show respect at anyone's opinions anymore. Healthy conversations are rare. People claimed they're "wokes" but they disrespect anyone who will refute their claims. Some users are after self-promotion. Even reputations of these social media companies has declined due to privacy issues.
Emee was disappointed on what's she's observed so she decided to deactivate her accounts, and created new accounts for her interaction with people she's close with, and kept it more private. She stopped engaging in different issues it will only mean she will be disrespected.
