Tasty Tuesday - Hot Spinach Dip

in #quratorlast year

This is my favorite spinach dip recipe that I want to share in the #tastytuesday contest in @qurator community. Easy to make, not many ingredients, easy to remember, versatile and oh-so-tasty. It goes with crackers, tortilla chips, any flat bread like tortillas, roti or pita, any other bread, as a spread, or use it like a side dish for chicken or turkey.

This is my spinach dip in a glass container. I always keep my food in glass containers, I don’t use plastic. Looks appetizing to me, hopefully to you too. 😋

What you need is a pack of frozen spinach, onion, garlic, cream cheese, tomato sauce, limes and some spices.

Start by thawing down the spinach. I usually wash and rinse it. Don’t need to squeeze it, like in other recipes. Just drain it.

Chop onion and garlic. I use a medium red onion and 4-5 garlic cloves. Sauté them in a little bit of olive oil.

Add juice of lime and tomato sauce. I used 2 limes and a small can of tomato sauce. No need to add extra water.

You will need some spices, as spinach doesn’t have much flavor. I use salt, peppercorns, turmeric, cayenne pepper, cumin, ground ginger, nutmeg and some fresh parsley in the end. The most important spice is nutmeg, be generous with it. In this step you will add the cheese. I used a whole pack of cream cheese and some shredded mozzarella. Add all these and keep stirring at low heat, until the cheese melt.

Your dip is ready now. Enjoy it with your favorite crackers or whatever else you like. Don’t eat it all in one sitting, there is plenty of cheese in there and a lot of calories! 😋 Unless you have a good digestive system and you’re not watching your weight... I’m pretty sure you’ll finish it faaaast....

With cheese and spinach? Great combo of flavours. That's the sort of thing I usually like! 😋

Yup, me too. This dip is really good.
