216 - Exército Americano Half Dollar
Continuando a série de Modernos Half Dollars Comemorativos, apresentaremos hoje o 2011-S "US Army" gradado pela PCGS PR70 DCAM.
Todas as moedas desta série pesam 11,34g com 91,67% de cobre e 8,33% de níquel. Foram emitidas com acabamento Proof e Brilliant Uncirculated.
Elas serão apresentadas na ordem que foram emitidas.
Ela foi emitida como parte de um programa para celebrar a fundação do Exército Americano. O meio dólar representa o "Serviço na Paz".
O obverso mostra cenas diferentes: um soldado fazendo levantamento de local, dois outros fazendo um muro anti-inundação e um foguete Redstone usado na exploração espacial.
O reverso mostra um Continental Soldier armado com um mosquete. As treze estrelas representam as treze colônias originais.
Um total de 68.332 moedas foram emitidas em São Francisco. O preço de emissão foi U$21,95. O preço atual é cerca de U$130,00 neste grau.

É muito interessante ver uma moeda a respeito de um exército mostrando atividades na paz e não na guerra. Parabéns a quem teve esta boa idéia.
Realmente, a idéia de mostrar a utilidade do exército nos tempos de paz é muito interessante pois só associamos exército com guerras.
Gostei desta moeda, principalmente do Continental soldier.
É um reverso limpo e bastante emblemático do exército americano.
