In fact, the first mention of Bran Castle dates back to 1377, when Louis I of Hungary allowed Saxon Brasov to build their own stone. In 1920, Bran Castle was the official residence of the kingdom and eventually became the favorite resting place of Queen Marie.
Today, Bran Castle operates as a museum that houses a large collection of art and furnishings that used to belong to Queen Marie. Visitors can choose to explore the hall itself or under the guidance of a professional.
3. Corvin Castle

The beautiful castle of Corvin can be found in Hunedoara, in the Transylvania region of Romania. This Gothic-Renaissance masterpiece was commissioned by John Hunyadi in 1446, and it was intended to replace the existing fixed built by Charles I of Hungary on the same site. The original Corvin castle was built in Gothic style but did feature some Renaissance design elements as well. The building was used as John Hunyadi's house but was also used extensively for defensive purposes, thereby gradually receiving many additional towers and fortifications.
Some of the towers were meant to be used as prisons, especially the Desert Tower and the Capistrano Tower, while the defense towers such as the Buzdugan Tower featured large openings that would accommodate the prevailing weapons. Significant improvements were made in the 17th century, including the addition of a new Great Palace and the construction of 2 towers named Artillery Tower and the White Tower. Unfortunately, the building was destroyed after years of neglect and even burned at some point, causing severe damage. The current version of Corvin Castle is actually the result of a successful restoration.
