Purposeful Planning: Align Your Vision With Actions

in Project HOPE3 days ago

Every great achievement that you see today once began with a vision; which is a mental picture created about what you want to happen. It is the vision that creates the spark within you and gives the "why" behind your dream. It is vision that gives substance to your dream. However, you need to understand that without action, both dream and vision will remain as mere wish. This is where purposeful planning comes into play. It is planning that helps you to align your vision with action. Success is not what you stumble into without making adequate planning for it. It is planning with purpose that gives direction to your energy.

When you want to go somewhere, and you have a map, you will already create a mental picture of the destination in your mind. However, you need to chart a course of action and how to take the journey, otherwise you may not arrive at the destination even though you have the map. It is not the possession of the map that takes you to your destination, but by charting a course and taking the actual journey. It is when you make a move that you will actually move from where you are to where you want to go. Your planning and your action are what bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be.

You may have an idea of a business venture or an innovation, or even a career choice, but all these will remain as ideas until you act on them. The small action you take on your dream is far better than someone with a very brilliant idea without taking a step. The result you get in life is not a function of what you have thought in your mind alone, but what you have acted. Imagine if you want to build muscles and keep fit, but you only sit and wish for it to happen or you just think about it, will you build any muscle? Definitely not. You will only build muscle when you begin the physical bodybuilding process. In the same way in life, it is only your action that is rewarded, not your wishes. It is when your ideas move from your mind and translate into actions that results can be birthed.

It is true that actions are needed for you to achieve success, but the actions need to be rightly done and not just any random action. Just like the example of a bodybuilder I gave earlier. It is true that you need to exercise and lift weights to build muscles, but you still have to do it rightly. This is not just to get the required result, but also to avoid negative consequences. You will agree with me that there is a way you will lift weights and it will become counterproductive. So in life, the actions you put in should align with the vision and the dream you have. If your motion does not take you closer to your destination, then it is not progress. This is why you need to be intentional about the actions that you put into your vision. Do not just do things because you think you can do them, but because they are the right things to do.

In addition to doing things right, a very important factor to consider is timing. There is a time you will delay to take and action, and when it is eventually taken, the potential result may have been defeated. Just to let you know, doing things at the right time has already given you an edge and can make the result faster and better. Even the right action may not produce a good result if it is done at the wrong time. Imagine trying to plant seeds in your farmland when the planting season has passed and the rain has stopped falling, you may not get the required result that you need. For every action that you want to undertake, while planning for it, you have to put timing into consideration. Remember that time will not wait for you. Whether you take the right action or not, time will still pass, so use time wisely.
