Why There Is A Need For Transformation In The Music Industry
The world is really changing and evolving at a very rapid rate and this is cutting across every sector or industries in the world. There are actually something's that we are witnessing right now which might have actually look so impossible many years ago but right now, we are witnessing it.
If you will have asked me around 15 years ago whether we will witness the development that has happened most especially in the digital world and most especially related to the world of artificial intelligence, I will have deny it. The same way every industries have developed, I strongly believe there is still a strong need for transformation to happen in the music industry.
The music industry does not need any new introduction any longer. It is a strong force that can change the world and influence change we all need or desire. But even in the midst of all these potentials I have listed, there are still a lot of challenges that the music industry is still facing that is limiting the development of the music industry to what it should be and I strongly believe the transformation needs urgency.
Let me start from the constant issue artiste or let me use the world musicians faces when it comes to exploitation. Whether you like it or not, musicians are constantly been exploited most especially by the record labels which should not be so. Of course some of them either under pressure or desperation to get into limelight, they sign those contracts that are been offered to them. But at the end of the day, they discovered those contracts they sign are actually exploiting them.
You will see some bad contracts that contains those artistes to be deny of their rights and earnings. Well I can't really blame some record label, it is an act of business but irrespective of that, I believe there is a need for proper balance in the contracts. I strongly believe if the music industry is transformed, there will be fair and transparent contracts offered by the record labels to musicians in which both of them will profit at the end of the day.
That's not all. One other issue I believe the music industry is facing presently is the fact that it looks like the focus have shifted. Everyone wants to make money and so we are lacking meaningful contents again. Gone are the days whereby people create music that can connect lots of people together all around the world or gone are the days whereby we can actually see systems and structures to help protect the purity of what is been sang in songs. But nowadays, the songs we are hearing people singing are actually just for money, there is no meaningful message that is been passed across again as before.
Also I believe women are still been subjected to minor roles in the music industry. Even though there have been a bit of improvement compared to many years ago, but I believe it can still be better. A lot of women who have potentials to offer in the music industry find it difficult to find expressions because it looks like the system was designed for men which should not be so. There should be equality of gender even in the music industry. All these are present issues which I believe the music industry needs to be attended to before it is too late.
