On being “productive” all the time...
I think there’s a common misconception about “busy” or “productive” people. I think of myself as a fairly productive guy and have been told as much by people I respect so I’ll use myself as an example. I’m chilling right now. Enjoyed a glass of wine and played some candy crush.
Sure I got some things done today, couple meetings, a podcast, and such, but it wasn’t the most productive day. I was up too late last night and just finished a long road trip with the family. I’m tired. Today was, “meh” and that’s my point.
The productive people lens we see others from isn’t the whole story. Sometimes they are just wasting time playing a game on their phone and relaxing. That part is important too. Balance is important. It’s tempting to compare ourselves and be “busy,” but it’s better to be whole.
Naps count as productivity, right?
