Corruption within prison
Here I possess the question, hoping for a solution.
Why is there so much corruption within the prison system?
How can that corruption be reduced?
After working in the prison for over ten years, I have seen multiple forms of corruption. From drug smuggling, cell phone trafficking, cheating on college exams, tax fraud, money laundering, murder for hire, fake certificates for parole board, etc. However, no one seems to be doing anything about it.
Corruption can be very lucrative. For example, a cell phone sells for ~$2000 in prison, while an ounce of heroin goes for ~$800. I've seen ads for fake certificates going for $100. And these can be printed off of any printer for ten cents.

Devlotuion of laws that are absurd would help. Ending the Civil War on Drugs by decriminalizing drugs would help.
Would it really? I used to think so, but realistically, with the decriminalization of drugs, they still wouldn't be allowed in prison.
Besides, drugs are used as a tool to create debt and servitude in the prison system. These are what drives the gangs. I see so many young males commit stabbings on other human beings just to pay off a drug debt.
