Of Love - Unconditional Love - Loving Kindness - a Powerhouse Creatives Contest...

A common saying that holds some truth -

Love makes the world go round!

When I think of love, I think how wondrous it is to have unconditional love! Often hard to find, so count yourself fortunate if you have it!

That bond that nature forms between mother and child, brings unconditional love. Something that is needed for children to thrive. Thrive and grow up to be themselves, loving and compassionate adults.

Having that love let's you be more trusting and open. Having those loving connections is so important for all of us, yet often forgotten about with the many distractions of the modern day world. Make time for real-time connections, not just those in cyberspace, but real physical, eye to eye, sensory connections to let love emerge!

Remember kids model after the adults and if they see you having warm positive connections with others, being open and respectful, the more they will learn that this is the way to be. And it is not exclusive to family, but let them see you having those connections with others in the community and beyond, even to our pets and other mammal friends (dogs are renowned for their unconditional love!)

Something I have strived for is the development of loving-kindness. I wrote a post on that earlier, on - Metta, Loving-Kindness here I also wrote on the power of kindness here.

I'm working to try to see each being equanimously and it all starts with loving yourself ( if you can't love yourself it is very hard to love others.) From there it can be extended out to those closest to you, your loved-ones, then to say, a helpful teacher or someone who is having a positive impact in your life, someone easy to love. Then keep extending it out until you can love even your enemies. (see my previous post on equanimity here.)

This is not easy to do but well worth putting the effort in to develop!

I find with working with young children in a group setting, how important it is to treat each child equally. Show love and kindness, which at that young age (I work with 3 and 4 year olds) they just seem to lap up. They are so open and you do make a difference in their development. It let's them know that they matter. Heck! Treat all folks with loving kindness, for we all need to know that we matter and it can make for a better world!

A lesson I learned quite some time ago, with something that can be a blocker to that loving kindness, was with anger.

Instead of letting anger build, do your utmost to turn that anger into love and if you are not able to do that, then move away from that which is creating anger in you.

That made a tremendous difference in my life! Making my life more peaceful. That and meditation. Meditation on loving kindness and also Vipassana meditation or insight meditation.
