The palette of life

The other day I was looking at one of my old paint palettes and realized that I could recall many of the paintings where I had used it for.
The colours remaining were visible reminders of many of my paintings - taking me back many years.

While I sat contemplating this, I realized how like my own life it was - the bright colours like the happy days and the dark colours the not so great times.
And yes , there have been some very dark times but the bright days will always be happy memories.

As an artist, I probably feel things far more than is good for me, but I think this is true for most artists - pain is something we are familiar with and joy is something we thrive on - and love is something we crave.

My children and grand children are truly my joy as are the wonderful friends in my life.
Looking back on my life I know that although it may not be significant to some, I believe it has been , for me, a full life - I have loved and been loved, lost much but also gained, been hurt but worked through it, made big mistakes and had to bear the consequences - and all of this, just as I struggled to get just the right mix of colours has become my own palette of life.
