The Importance of Letting go...
Letting go gives us freedom and freedom is the only condition for happiness. - Nhat Hanh
There is a very big difference between giving up and letting go. Giving up is an act of defeat. Letting go is an act of self-preservation. When you are faced with life's emotional challenges, hurts and angers, letting go is simply the only way you will ever be able to move onward in peace. When you hang on to all the negative stuff, it weighs you down, breaks you down and depletes you. If you ever take a look at somebody who has hung onto anger and bitterness for many years, you can actually "SEE" it in them. They always look so weathered. It literally ages them on a physical level eventually, because it destroys you from the inside out. One famous example of this, I have always thought... is Eminem. Now don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of his and I really respect his monumental achievements... but he has (from what I can see anyway) just never let go of the bitterness towards his past... and it shows! You have to learn to accept the way things have unfolded. Breathe it in, and then let it out. It may not be very easy in the beginning... but just take baby steps... and one day, sooner than you think, you will look at yourself and realise that it doesn't affect you as much anymore.

Hey Jaynie. Totally agree. Great article. As a guy who's been living out of a backpack for almost 13 years now, I can totally relate. What was least expected to read about what you right is that holding onto bitterness ages you. I've let go of so much, walked away from bitterness anger, I got into meditation and yoga at a young age and guess what most people can't believe I'm 36. They usually guess something like 28. Your take on Giving up vs Letting go, is a wonderful way to come to terms with something you really no longer have control of, and probably never had any control of, from the beginning.
