Ulog 144: Haymaker's Punch? Or Is It Switchel? Maybe Nature's Gatorade?

Whether you call it Haymaker's Punch, Switchel Or Nature's Gatorade... this is an easy concoction to make to keep handy around your home; especially in the summer months when the heat and humidity are prevalent.

This fabulous caffeine-free alternative drink is not only refreshing, but also supplies your body with minerals, electrolytes, vitamins and is full of anti-oxidants.

With just filtered, or spring, water and four other ingredients, you can mix this up and drink it immediately.

Unlike some lacto-fermented sodas and other fermented options, which you have to wait weeks to be ready for consumption, this Haymaker's punch is best when first mixed and over ice. Adding in some fresh mint leaves or lemon balm leaves adds a special touch and burst of flavor too.

Have no fear about the apple cider vinegar in the recipe... you hardly even notice it.

Haymaker's Punch Recipe

  • 3-tablespoons ACV
  • 4-tablespoons honey or maple syrup (you can also use molasses if you want)
  • 1-tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1-teaspoon fresh or ground ginger
  • Spring or filtered water to fill remainder of quart size jar

Combine all ingredients in a quart-size glass jar and mix. Making sure ALL honey/maple syrup or molasses is combined well.

This sounds so refreshing @goldendawne!! I have finally mastered my kombucha drink and try to keep a gallon fermenting all the time. Knowing how to make these healthy drinks is such a great idea :) Love it!

The ginger is good for settling stomachs. This sounds like it would be good over ice as you suggested.
