The SteemIt Newbie Guide - Using Markdown to Format your Posts - A Simple Hands On Tutorial

in #post7 years ago (edited)

Formatting your Posts

Want to add some life to your post?
* Perhaps a picture or an image?

Want to add some format to your post?
* A Header,?
* bullet points,?
* Italics or whatever?

Check out Markdown!

The Formatting tool used with Steemit Blog posts is called "Markdown".

"Formatting text in Markdown has a very gentle learning curve. It doesn’t do anything fancy like change the font size, color, or type. All you have control over is the display of the text—stuff like making things bold, creating headers, and organizing lists."

This Tutorial has several lessons. "In each lesson, you’ll be given an introduction to a single Markdown concept. Then, you’ll complete several exercises with that new knowledge."

"If you have ten minutes, you can learn Markdown!"

Thanks All, Enjoy and Keep on Steemin'!

Thanks @anikearn, I'm trying to leave a trail to help others just starting up the path, to make the climb a little bit easier.

This will be helpful for me and for many other newbies.

This past month (my first on Steemit), I've had to learn, discover, and research many things in order to do create the content that I am creating for upload. But much of the material I need to find is not very accessible. Posts like this help a lot.

Thanks, and Full Steem Ahead.

thanks @majes.tytyty, I figure if us new Steemers share what we learn along the way with each other and the newbies coming up behind us then we all win .

I've been a reading a book about how to study poker, which applies to lots of other things in life too. It said that a great way to learn is to teach what you have learned, or learn what you want to know by preparing it such that you can teach other and through doing so, become more proficient yourself:)

I agree with that 100% - not the poker part - but the part about teach what you learn or teach what you want to remember as important.

You nailed it @bluesbro, this is as much for my benefit as to it is to help others who follow along afterwards. I figure the best way to retain something of value is to share it with others in an easy to understand and follow format so that they can use it too.

And the best shares are the ones that save the next person time and effort to find it, learn it, and apply it. And then if they share it too, then even more people benefit.

Good luck with your poker game by the way. May good Fortune smile on you.

Interesting and useful information! ;)

thanks @tangmo, words of encouragement and feedback from other Steemers helps motivate me to press on.

You're welcome! Keep up good works and steem on! ;)
