Lovely photo. Have never been to Palmela but will now look out for it when I'm next in Portugal.
Highly recommended ... we loved it there, also a had a great lunch and there was plenty to see.

I lived in Setubal and its Palmela correct name of village. Nice choice that are one of the most beautiful places to visit in portugal "3 castle region" Arrabida mountain, beautiful beach like Troia, figueirinha, galapos, coelhos, alportuche, creiro, portinho da arrabida e sesimbra.
Good wines, fish i miss so much.

You must go in Setubal Av Luisa Tody and eat "choco frito" tradition in the city. If you like try drinking one of the best sweet wine in the world " moscatel de Setubal". Go to Azeitão 12km far from there and try a special cream cheese "Queijo de Azeitão " and ask for Pastelaria O Cego and taste "torta de Azeitão.
Chco Frito is on the plan for tomorrow and moscatel we had when we checked into our place. They had mosctel pralines waiting for us on the room. I'll suggest Azeitão to Mike ... is the town cute?

Palmela is my childhood, and along with the places @pataty69 said which are really good, and a lot more others eheh
In palmela near the library look for the casa mãe rota dos vinhos for a nice regional wine tasting while enjoying the view of the castle
