The United States is back on top of the quantum computing world. IBM has done it again, and as a pioneer in the space their newest quantum computing achievement is a point of pride for my country of residence.

Recently, IBM has created a new feat in quantum computing hardware and software. The newest computer is 50 times faster than existing quantum computers in operation. The race for speed and power in quantum computing is essential for national security and technological innovation. National research laboratories and universities rely upon cutting edge technology that IBM is delivering and innovating year after year.

The IBM computer is 156-qubit with a capability of performing 5,000 2-qubit operations and features the IBM Qiskit software. The computer runs on the R2 Heron processor, which is a leap forward and which puts the United States above other competitors in the space.

Quantum computing is essential for modeling biological systems and investigating protein folding. The systems are required to ensure the highest level of cyber security and to encrypt data as a quantum computing arms race ensues in the near future. IBM has been pioneering quantum computer hardware and software for years and continues to lead the pack with their combination of research and development in the space.
