Doctor Paul cured my apathy. In 2007, I knew practically nothing about American politics, except that I knew I hated the US government, and that hatred encompassed every branch at every level.

• I recall watching those republican debates in early 2008 on the interwebs. Every candidate on the stage, and those jackass moderators, would delight in mocking him, and he absolutely wiped the floor with them. This moment sealed the deal for me. I needed to find out everything I could about the man, and in the process I developed a strong admiration for the US Constitution and yes, even their convoluted election system.

• Most importantly, though, I woke up to the fact that just about everything I'd ever learned about government, the economy, money, precious metals, health care, freedom... was all skewed by my deeply held "Christian Socialist" ideals. (hint: I no longer call myself a socialist.)
