RE: I Interviewed Ron Paul Yesterday - Here's What Happened!

in #politics7 years ago

If the power ever goes out--emp blast or what not--crypto will lose all its value. If you really think about it, there isn't intrinsic value behind crypto. What makes it different than fiat is that a central authority can't just make more. Gold and silver will hold their value pretty much forever no matter what happens (unless maybe mining asteroids becomes a thing, or making it in a particle accelerator gets a lot cheaper).

Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of crypto, but if you want a rock solid store of value, gold and silver is a good idea.

Thanks, followed back. Have a good one.

I think that divirsification is a good thing. The bad part of gold and silver is that you can be physically separated from them easily. A man who flees the country and has bitcoin, OTOH, will still have the bitcoin, so long as he remembers his password. But there are ways that bitcoin can lose all of its value, which cannot happen to gold and silver.

Yes, crypto is great for moving wealth from one tax farm to another. Precious metals make that process very difficult.

True, unless the government invents that brain sucker thing from that batman movie. lol

Then again, there is always old fashion torture to get your password. There are ways to hide gold/silver as well like the pirates did. There are advantages and disadvantages to everything. Little bit of everything and understanding the pros and cons of each is a good idea.

Yup, and Ron Paul is a true believer in the EMP attack TEOTWAWKI scenario.

I've had people respond, "Well, if there is enough people, they can hobble together an Internet."
sigh Crypto is fine for now, but like all other non-metallic currencies in a TEOTWAWKI situation, it is innately useless.

He's in the pessimistic camp, and I'm right there with him. The powers that shouldn't be are not going to walk quietly into the night. They will burn the house down and kill everyone in it before losing their power.

When the going gets tough, the tough get going is the old saying. I add, "The smart left long ago" to it though. I am not holding out hope for a peaceful resolution to the current economic situation. There will be war. My hope is that it will not be nuclear, but... it probably will be. If that happens though, we won't care about our PM's or crypto.

Silver would probably be the most useful in a SHTF scenario. Makes a great disinfectant from a very small amount of silver. There's really no telling what kind of society will come out of the ashes of this one.

Like Einstein said, "world war 4 will be fought with sticks and stones.."

2nd most useful... right behind brass.
