President Nancy Pelosi
Scary thought isn't it. Kept me awake a lot last night. The strange thing is it could happen without Ms. Pelosi actually being elected as president.
Under the 25th Amendment if the President is unable to function as president, the vice president assumes the role of president. To fill the open position of vice president, the existing vice president now acting as president appoints a new vice president that must be approved by both houses of Congress. Similarly, if the vice president is unable to carry out his duties, the president appoints a new vice president.
This came into play while Nixon was president. At the time Spiro Agnew was vice president. Agnew had to resign amid a scandal which gave Nixon the opportunity to appoint Gerald Ford to be the new vice president. Eventually, because of the Watergate scandal, Nixon had to resign leaving Gerald Ford to be president. President Gerald Ford became the first and only President of the United States that was not elected but became president through a political appointment.
But back to the hypothetical President Pelosi. If the Democrats are able to take back the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi will again be the speaker of the house. The 25th Amendment was incomplete because it did nothing to cover the contingency of both the president and vice president not being able to serve at the same time, such as a double assassination. After President John F. Kennedy was assassinated this became evident and Congress pass what is now U.S. Code Title 3 §19. Section a, paragraph 1 of the law states:
If, by reason of death, resignation, removal from office, inability, or failure to qualify, there is neither a President nor Vice President to discharge the powers and duties of the office of President, then the Speaker of the House of Representatives shall, upon his resignation as Speaker and as Representative in Congress, act as President.
There you have it, that is how House Speaker Nancy Pelosi becomes President Pelosi. The new President Pelosi can then under the 25th Amendment appoint a new vice president. My worst nightmare, President Nancy Pelosi and Vice President Maxine Waters.
That certainly gets me motivated to vote Republican in a couple of weeks.

Pence needs to watch his back. I read he got caught with spit balls in 3rd grade. He is unfit.
I truly hope nothing bad ever happens to anyone that has chosen to put themselves into national politics, I know I would never volunteer for that duty. I really hope nothing bad ever happens to Trump and Pence to leave Nancy as the president, that would mean it's time to move to Mexico. Maybe Vice President Maxine would give me a send off at the airport here in Indy.
But...the new Democrats elected won't vote for Nancy. Yeah, right.
Kim Jung Un called Trump 'doddering', guess he has never met Nancy. Maxine needs to go back back to church. Actually, Sunday School. She seems to have forgotten the basic rules of Christianity.....kindness, no violence, forgiveness, selfishness is bad, etc.
These two ladies I will never understand why people keep voting to elect. What are they thinking?
Too much credit....they aren't individual thinkers. Mob mentality.
Let's not forget that rhetoric doesn't matter but Republicans started an offensive war that killed between 150'000 to 600'000 people, I'd say that matter more than shouting mean things at politicians. She's not saying politicians should be literally attacked, but if you care about people being inconcenienced, I'd say at least 150'000 people dying and many more losing loved ones, including the families of 5'000 dead US soldiers and over 30'000 US wounded, that matters more

What terrible policies does she support that Republicans are against? Don't get me wrong, she's horrible, but I don't see how Republicans are better. After all, it was Republicans who started arguably the biggest unnecessary offensive war in the last 30 years, based purely on lies, shouldn't that scare you as well? That was 150'000 to 600'000 violent deaths, that's 50 to 200 9/11s, including 4'500 US soldiers killed. It also drove up the deficit by a total of 2.4 trillion, more than the bailout after the Great Recession, which BTW also happened on the watch of Republicans (though with the help of Clinton's deregulation)
If you're scared of corporate Democrats, which you should, then you should be doubly scared of corporate Republicans
Did you forget that Obama drove up the national debt more than all the previous presidents combined? At the same time, I believe he was the only president that never reached a 3% GDP growth during his tenure. Do you want more of that? While he was president the talk on business news was that less than 2% GDP growth was "the new normal" and Americans should just accept that. Under Obama's watch we had millions enter poverty and go on food stamps. If that's what you want, move to a socialist country. I understand the weather is nice in Venezuela, but probably only the weather.

And 2001 to 2009 the debt grew by 62% inflation-adjusted, 2009 to 2017 it grew by 49% inflation-adjusted. Democrats are just really, really, really bad at getting their word out, that's why you still thought they were driving up the deficit more than Republicans.
