Political Division Has Gym Members Fighting
This past election in the US has done a lot in the way of contributing to the division between family members, friends, spouses, and others.
Survey research has found that a great deal of couples in the US fought a lot about their political differences in the last election and some even got divorces over it, others say they ended longtime friendships, or ended relations with a family member. One couple was even married for 22+ years and they actually got a divorce because of their differences over who the other was voting for.
And recently, a gym in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, even had to introduce new rules regarding what political channels their gym members could watch because it was causing too many fights to break out.
A YMCA in the county has recently posted a new policy, that asked members to leave their politics at home because it's been causing too many heated debates and it's been exhausting members who would like a more enjoyable and peaceful place to work out. The main culprit that the gym is looking to target is the 24-hour cable news channel that they say has been causing too many complaints, arguments, and even threats allegedly being uttered; fostering a negative and hostile atmosphere.
Gym members want to go to workout at a place where they feel safe, perhaps feel like they are a part of the community, and they aren't going to the gym looking to get into heated philosohical discussions and political debates. For many of them, it just isn't the time and place.
The ban doesn't include all news channels, only a few of them. And most members agree that this is going to be a positive change for the venue because most of the arguments they allege were about changing the channels; what content was being displayed.
For those who don't like the changes and still want to workout in a place where they can argue as much as they want, well they might need to just go look for one of the many other thousands of gyms that are out there in the market, and see if one of them works better for them.

The election has done it's job beautifully! And by that, I mean DIVIDE
So sad. A place to get healthy can become a place for injury.
Recent 8 years and especially since Trump started running for President have been really bad. Wherever and whenever I express anything about any political person or subject, I get branded as a supporter of the "left" or "right".
Can't we have a healthy discussion about what actually happens and how the media (both the two main channels Fox and CNN, but others as well including social media) actually portrays the issues to suit their audience without triggering name calling and outright hate for one another?
The current situation is insane.
