Biden’s $2 Trillion Infrastructure Plan Is Loaded With Corporate Welfare

in #politics3 years ago

A significant portion of President Biden's “infrastructure” plan is directed at subsidizing big corporations. There’s $300 billion for manufacturing, $100 billion for electric utilities, $100 billion for broadband, $174 billion for electric vehicles, and a whole lot more.

It seems like it is the Republicans that are always being blamed for corporate welfare. No doubt the accusations are often true. However, Democrats do it even bigger...much, much bigger. One only has to look at the proposed budgets coming out of the Biden camp to see that. The point here isn't that one party is better than the other, it is that they are both horrible, constantly outdoing each other in how horrible they can be.

And what is with the gargantuan infrastructure programs? Isn't infrastructure sort of the primary point of taxes? Shouldn't roads and bridges and such be taken care of as part of every budget? Not only do we have record budgets and deficits but we have massive supplemental spending programs for infrastructure on top of that. Well, supposedly for infrastructure. It's hard to see it as much more than corporate welfare when you start looking at the details.

But I guess because Democrats are doing it for supposedly "green" reasons then it is okay, right? No amount of corporatism is too much in that case. Carry on.

Just remember, as dollars continue to be printed out of thin air, they will become worth less and less. This rears its ugly head in terms of inflation. This is one reason that the long term outlook for crypto as well as gold, silver and other commodities continues to look up in the long run...at least relative to the dollar.
