Herschel Walker is a terrible candidate for Senate - but he'll probably win

in #politicslast year

...but since we live in clown world now it doesn't really matter that he is completely unqualified to be a Senator or that he only recently moved to the state that he is attempting to represent. The way identity politics have been running wild in the USA for the past 5-7 years the only thing that a person needs in order to become a high-ranking politician is some celebrity, and in many cases have the "correct" skin color.

Walker is famous for being an exceptional football player back in the day. He is NOT known for being very smart or even being able to handle interviews in a comprehensible manner - even if they are about football. I'm not saying that he definitely isn't intelligent, but just generally speaking, professional athletes aren't exactly known for their academic prowess.

It is still likely that he is going to win in the upcoming Georgia race and the media is pulling out the usual smear campaign at the last minute in an effort to destroy his chances of victory by suggesting without much proof that the pro-life candidate paid for an abortion at some point in the past. Whether or not this is true is anyone's guess, but the timing of this information being released to the public is a little convenient, don't you think.

That being said and as a fellow conservative, I find it a bit embarrassing that a candidate running for one of the highest offices in the USA can barely speak in an understandable manner. Maybe I am getting too worked up over this. Even though I think that the person in question doesn't really matter that much because all politics seems to be controlled by something greater than the individuals in the various offices, I think that it is kind of important that the person be at least able to talk. I say that when we have a guy in the biggest office that doesn't know how to talk either though.

I guess you could say that I am disappointed that our system has devolved to this point. Walker would not even be considered for this position if he wasn't famous for playing football and if he was white and also couldn't speak very well, you can be guaranteed that he would be a non-issue. Race playing a part in someone's electability shouldn't be a consideration but man oh man, has it become that way since the media, most government agencies, and our entertainment industry make almost anything they can get their hands on be all about race.

I will say that it is kind of funny to watch the media bad-mouth him without sounding racist themselves by the very guidelines that they kind of built themselves. Whenever they are talking about Herschel, they have to be very careful to not call him stupid or bad at speaking, because the public could turn the cannon back at them and accuse them of being racist. Therefore, of the few articles that I have seen that were written in a negative light about Walker, were always written by someone who is also black. This is what we have come to in America, and this is not good.

Walker is almost certainly going to win and when he does you can believe the media is going to be all over him for a while. It is going to be interesting to see but honestly, I don't know what this guy can really bring to the table other than an (R) next to his name.

This is why I do not gravitate towards the National GOP and haven't had any interest in them since the Ron Paul debacle in 2012. I vote Republican in Parish elections and state elections but usually in congressional elections I'll usually vote Libertarian or Independent; doesn't really matter since I'm in a solid red district and I don't care for Kennedy, Cassidy or Scalise.

It's awesome to see that there are a few people out there like yourself that are capable of thinking for themselves. I think that if people focused a lot more than they do on local elections that communities in general would be a lot better off.
